After an ugly loss at home against the Atlanta Falcons, the 5-3 Washington Redskins are still in first place in the NFC East, but find themselves dropping like a rock in various power rankings.
Halfway through the 16-game season, USA Today has the Redskins at No. 14, seven spots lower than a week ago.
Among higher-profile news and sports websites, there’s a general consensus on where the Redskins should be ranked usually somewhere in the mid-teens. The Redskins hold the 14th spot at NFL.com, ESPN, and USA Today. They’re No. 16 at Sports Illustrated.
There are outliers, though, even less impressed with the NFC East’s division leader.
The analytics-based rankings at Scout.com, for example, have both the 4-4 Philadelphia Eagles, at No. 7, and the 3-5 Dallas Cowboys, at No. 17, higher than Washington, which this week comes in at No. 21.
ESPN, USA Today, and Sports Illustrated also leapfrogged the Eagles over the Redskins this week.
